Maths - Data Collection
Class 2 have been having fun collecting data from skittles! The children had to sort the skittles to see what the most popular colour in the packet was. From the data that was collected they created pictograms and block graphs.
In January, Class 2's half termly topic will change to 'The Big Build'. Within this topic we will be learning about different types of buildings and what and how they are made. We will be comparing homes in the UK to homes in other countries. We will also be doing lots of hands on building work and hopefully weather permitting go to Gentleshaw Common to build dens. Our reading/role play area this half term will be a Construction Site.
On Wednesday 16th December Class 2 went to the Village Hall to perform there dance routines to the Evergreen Club. The Evergreens enjoyed the performance and the children loved doing it. Here are some pictures:
We have been using the John Lewis advert - Man on the Moon as our stimulus for writing in the build up to Christmas! The children are extremely enthusiastic about writing about Lily and the Man on the Moon and will end up writing the story to the advert.
This week class 2 have written lovely letters to Santa. We also wrote the envelopes and then walked to the local post box to post them. Lets hope he has enough time before his busy Christmas schedule to reply!
Thank you for all of your donations for Children in Need. The children looked fantastic in their fancy dress costumes.
This year for Remembrance Day we painted poppies in the style of Georgia O'Keefe, made mosaic poppies and sewed poppies. Here is a class picture in front of our Remembrance Day display wearing the poppies we sewed.
This week we have been making fantastic firework pictures by doing scratch art. Firstly we had a white piece of paper and completely filled it with bright colours using wax crayons. Next we mixed black paint with washing up liquid and painted over our wax colours. After the paint had dried we then scratched firework designs into the paint to make lovely firework pictures. Here are some photos so you can see the process we went through.
