Please could all children ensure their PE kit is in School on a Monday and Wednesday for our PE lessons.
While the weather is so hot and sunny, please ensure you apply sun cream to your child before school and make sure they bring a hat to wear. They will also need a water bottle which you can purchase from the office for 50p. Many Thanks.
Science Investigation 03.05.16
Today class 3 investigated whether people who had the longest legs could jump the furthest, linked to our topic on muscles.
Friction is a force between two surfaces that are sliding, or trying to slide, across each other.
Friction always slows a moving object down.
Here are some quotes from what class 3 found out:
Bryn - "The floor tiles were smoother so the car went quicker and further."
Phoebe - "The cars didn't travel very far on the leaves because the leaves were bumpy."
Alfie - "On tiles its the fastest because its smoother and its slippy."
Archie - "On smooth grounds the cars travel faster and on bumpy grounds the car travels slower because on smooth grounds there is nothing to stop the car but there is on bumpy grounds."
Today in class 3 we have been learning about the digestive system, we have labelled diagrams and know exactly what happens to our food when it passes our lips.
In our French lesson we practiced our Days of the Week and colours and began to learn different food and drink.
Today in Class 3 we have been developing our sequences with a partner during our PE lesson.
In English we were using inverted commas when writing speech, we began as the characters from the book Ice Bear and were in full conversation we then used our success steps to write our speech down.
During our History lesson we were investigating Viking Artefacts using the laptops to find evidence of what items were made of.
Our ICT session today involved revisiting E-Safety, all children in class 3 know how to keep safe on the internet following the SMART rules. (www.kidsmart.org.uk)
Class 3 have been learning about their teeth as part of their science topic.
This term the children will learn about the Anglo-Saxons and investigate Sutton Hoo.
They will learn about their invasions, settlements and Kingdoms and find out about the conflict between the Anglo-Saxons and the Vikings.
In Science the children will be studying Rocks and Soils.
The children will be comparing and grouping different kinds of rocks on the basis of their appearance and simple physical properties.
Describe in simple terms how fossils are formed.
Recognise that soils are made from rocks and organic matter.
They will be looking at rocks and soils within their own environment observing rocks in buildings, gravestones, and how they may have changed over time.
They will observe what happens when rocks are put in water or rubbed together.
Autumn Term 1
This term the children will be learning about the Romans in their History topic. They will be learning about why the Romans came to England and about all the things that they gave us.
In English they will be learning to write stories with Historical settings which will be closely linked to the topic of the Romans. Their stories will need a setting, characters and a plot. They will learn about conjunctions, how to use paragraphs and in Year 4, how to use Fronted adverbials.
In maths they will be learning about place value, the written methods for addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
In Science they will be looking at a topic about Light and Shadows. They will carry out different experiments, learning about fair test, prediction and then evaluation of results.
Their PE ill be linked to Roman marching and keeping in time to a regular beat.
