Class 4 Summer-1 Half Term
After Easter, Year Fours and Fives will be learning about the Amazing Amazon, which is the name of our new topic. We will find out about rivers and the water cycle. We will compare our lives with those of different South cultures and begin to write in the genre of biography. We will polish our persuasive and speaking skills. In Geography, we will discover what biodiversity means and why deforestation is so bad for the environment, as well as the location of different climates around the world. In Maths, we will progress our learning about ordering and comparing large numbers and reading both analogue and digital clocks. We will also be answering ‘real life’ word problems involving addition and subtraction. The latter is an area that all children need support with.
If your child has been invited to early bird booster sessions, please try to get them there as this is very important to their progress.
Class 4 Spring-2 Half Term
This half term, Class 4 has focussed on the topic of sound in Science, learning about how sounds are produced and altered. We have spent sometime on fractions, decimals and percentages, as well as measuring and identifying angles in Mathematics. Our Topic work has included lots of R.E. regarding the Easter story in order to prepare the class for the school Church Service in which we are participating. We have learned about poetic devices in Literacy, such as onomatopoeia, similes and metaphors. In I.T. we have used Power Point, Publisher and Word to present information in visually interesting ways and started using Scratch a free computer programming programme that allows the children to use logic and language to move, change, and generally animate things. This is well worth a try at home.
Class 4 have been learning all about the Jabberwocky! There task was to create a scene from the poem. Check out there creations!
"Jabberwocky" is a nonsense poem written by Lewis Carroll and included in his 1871 novel Through the Looking-Glass, and What Alice Found There, a sequel to Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. The book tells of Alice's adventures within the back-to-front world of a looking glass.
